Management Team

The Management group (currently chaired by Dr. J. Crain) assumes responsibility for three operational strands: Research, Business Development, and Technical Staff.

  • Research - The emphasis will be on cutting edge research programme with the view to maintaining international visibility. Awareness of science and technology outlook and for training through project student placements within the Centre. The main deliverables from this activity will be publications and presentations at international conferences
  • Business Development - The aim is to manage the full range of Technology/Knowledge transfer functions of the Centre. This will include management of the IP portfolio, contract research functions, income generation and running of industrial workshops and promotional activities. This aspect of the Centre also has specific responsibility for establishing and maintaining alignment to local/regional priorities.
  • Technical Staff - An increase in service provision accompanied by an overall increase in the size of the user base will demand an increased level of support from technical staff. Their role is expanding to include (1) training of new users in the basic operation of key instruments, (2) data collection as part of contract research function, (3) aspects of safety monitoring and (4) referral of unusual results to appropriate members of the research staff.
